Orthodontic Assistant


Pay: $24.00/hour and up, based on experience

Responsibilities


Patient Care

  • Greet and engage patients with respect and a smile
  • Ensure patients are well informed and comfortable — before, during, and after their appointment — about their treatment and oral health

Clinical Support

  • Take and process dental radiographs, impressions, and intraoral photos
  • Prepare and sterilize treatment room and equipment
  • Provide chair-side assistance to providers during treatment procedures
  • Document orthodontic care services by charting in patients' records
  • Assist the orthodontist in assessing a patient's teeth and implementing a plan to straighten them
  • Perform routine orthodontic duties, including cleaning and adjusting orthodontic gear
  • Maintain a clean, sterile, and patient-centric working environment

Compliance

  • Maintain strict compliance with state, federal, and other regulations (OSHA, WC, Dental Board, HIPAA, ADA, DOL, Employee Handbook)


Requirements


  • 6+ months of practical experience as an orthodontic assistant
  • CPR or BCLS certification
  • Completion of a CODA-accredited dental assisting program (preferred)
  • Quick learner with problem-solving skills
  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality
  • Technical/troubleshooting skills for software used in charting, patient records, and scheduling
  • Proficiency in fitting bands and brackets, tying in arch wires, and taking consistent, accurate impressions
  • Desire and ability to learn new skills; strong team player
  • Commitment to punctuality and reliable attendance
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and desire for professional growth
  • Organized, with solid knowledge of dentistry and dental terminology
  • Bilingual — Spanish is a plus!
